During the lockdown in 2020, I was contacted by a Gentleman a very senior citizen (found me on the Internet) an avid Model Train Collector that he has 4 x N scale Locomotives which are not in working condition. These Locomotives he mentioned were more than 50 years old and he had purchased it in the 1960’s. After so many years these Locomotives are not in working condition. He requested me whether these Locomotives can be serviced and repaired. I said why not? Since I was not in Mumbai and would return in October, I can have these Locomotives collected.

The Locomotives were 2 x Steam and 2 x Diesel. Upon opening these Locomotives, the carbon brushes were damaged, Locomotives did not have shafts and connecting rods to the wheels, rubber on the wheels were missing, one of the Locomotives chassis was broken etc. Each Locomotive was then painstakingly dismantled and new carbon brushes, springs, wiring, all commutators had to be re-wired, oiled etc was done. These Locomotives were then tested thoroughly on the layout for forwards and backwards running.

The restored Locomotives were then despatched to the Gentleman and he was very happy to see these back in running condition as these Locomotives were of sentimental value.

We were very happy that we could restore these Locomotives to its former glory.
